The Canadian Franchise Association (CFA) is seeking volunteers to fill in as Vice Chair of the Franchise Support Services (FSS)/ Supplier Committee.

The Vice Chair of the FSS/Supplier Committee is responsible for chairing the meetings in the absence of the Chairperson. The Vice Chair does not serve on the CFA Board of Directors or Executive Committee in the event that the FSS/Supplier Chair cannot attend.

Individuals who apply must be a Franchise Support Services/Supplier member company for at least two years, in good standing, and should have a senior level position. Preference will be given to individuals with committee experience within CFA. Experience serving on Boards of other not-for-profit organizations will be an asset.

POSITION DESCRIPTION | VICE CHAIR, FRANCHISE SUPPORT SERVICES/SUPPLIER COMMITTEE

Purpose:

The Chair, Franchise Support Services/Supplier Committee provides leadership to the FSS/Supplier Committee whose role is to provide networking opportunities for FSS/Supplier members, update membership as a whole on industry information, and work towards cohesiveness to align with Board and Executive and provide a flow of information on CFA issues.

The Vice Chair of the FSS/Supplier Committee is responsible for chairing the meetings in the absence of the Chairperson. The Vice Chair does not serve on the CFA Board of Directors or Executive Committee in the event that the FSS/Supplier Chair cannot attend.

Reporting to:

The Vice Chair of the FSS/Supplier Committee reports to the Chair of the FSS/Supplier Committee.

Term:

The Vice Chair applies for the position, or is nominated by the FSS/Supplier Chair, and/or the CFA President and Chief Executive Officer. This is reviewed by the Nominating Committee and then ratified by the Executive Committee. The Vice Chair may serve up to two 2×2 year terms, aligning with the terms of the FSS/Supplier Chair.

Eligibility:

Individuals must be a CFA member in good standing as a FSS Member.

Succession to the FSS/Supplier Chair from the role of Vice Chair is encouraged but is subject to the approval of the Executive Committee and the President/CEO. The FSS/Supplier Chair does not sit ex­ officio on the CFA Board of Directors and must be duly elected by the general membership.

Experience Required:

Individuals must be with a CFA Franchise Support Services/Supplier member company for at least two years and should have a senior level position. Preference will be given to individuals with committee experience within CFA. Experience serving on Boards of other not-for-profit organizations will be an asset.

Meeting Attendance:

Time demands for this position are to attend all FSS/Supplier meetings (approx. 6 per year, most by teleconference). The individual may be asked to step down if more than three FSS/Supplier meetings are missed in one year without good cause, however they may be eligible to remain as a committee member of the FSS/Supplier Committee.
