The country is seeking to welcome 465,000 immigrants in 2023, according to the Immigration Levels Plan 2023-2025, in order to address the labour shortage crisis.
The goal is to welcome 485,000 new immigrants in 2024 and 500,000 new immigrants in 2025, for a total of nearly 1.5 million new immigrants over the following three years. Interestingly, by now it has issued invites to nearly 60,000 candidates only through Express Entry draws.
Canada is likely to invite even more immigrants in the second half of the year, and the immigration ministry recently unveiled its tech talent strategy. IRCC has already started its category-based draws this month.
Moreover, Canada had earlier noted that it is likely to invite one million immigrants through PNP route this year.
