Call for Speaking Proposals for 2021 CFA Franchise Law Day
We invite CFA member lawyers and in-house counsel to submit a speaking proposal for the 2021 CFA Virtual Franchise Law Day.
The theme for this year’s Law Day is “The Pandemic is Ending: Are the Roaring 20s Here Again?”. The Co-Chairs, together with the Law Day Committee, are developing a great program that will delve into the current and future legal issues facing franchising as we move out of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Based on the theme, the Co-Chairs are looking for speaking proposals (topics along with proposed panelists) on the following topics for concurrent and roundtable sessions. The proposals should focus on the legal issues.
- Duty of Good Faith: the recent SCC decisions and the impact on franchising
- How the pandemic has changed the legal landscape – disclosure, government programs, landlord/tenant law, limitation periods
- Emerging from the pandemic: relief programs, renewals, terminations, insolvency issues and franchise system transformations
- Labour issues facing franchisees and the franchisor’s role: new regulations to navigate, labour shortages, masks, vaccines and anti-pouching.
- Diversity and human rights in franchising
- Franchise Agreements and disclosure drafting post-pandemic
Speaking proposals should include a detailed outline of the topic, how it fits with the themes of Law Day and the expertise of the potential panelists.
We encourage you to circulate this request within your businesses, firms and organizations.
