As you may be aware, the deadline to register for Nova Scotia’s Extended Producer Responsibility Program for Packaging, Paper and Packaging-Like Products (EPR for PPP) was January 1, 2024. While that date has passed, the portal is still open for producers to register.
To date, 198 obligated producers have completed registration. Creating an account and registering takes about 15-20 minutes. Producers should have the following information ready:
- Business number
- Business start date
- Date when your company started supplying designated materials into Nova Scotia
- Legal business name and address
- A company representative and their contact information
As part of the registration process, producers are not required to provide data on the volume of designated material your business supplies into Nova Scotia.
Divert NS has several resources available on their website to support producers in the registration process, including:
Divert NS encourages all producers to register in a timely manner. This will enable a smooth transition as we move into the second phase of EPR for PPP in Nova Scotia. Divert NS will be updating producers on how they can meet the requirements of the regulation as the next regulatory milestone of October 1, 2024, approaches.
