Franchise Awareness Day 2024
May 23, 2024
Advocacy

On May 29, 2024, Franchisors, Franchisees, and Suppliers came together at Queen’s Park in Toronto for the CFA’s annual Franchise Awareness Day.

Franchise Awareness Day provided a unique opportunity to help defend and advance franchising in Ontario by connecting with Ministers and Members of Provincial Parliament to help raise awareness of the importance of franchising to the Province, Canada, and the Canadian Economy.

By educating politicians and policymakers, you are helping protect your business, your franchisees, and the franchise business model across Canada.

CFA’S LOBBYING PRIORITIES
Here are four key messages we emphasized on Franchise Awareness Day:

  • The unique nature of the franchisor/franchisee relationship: Franchisees are small business owners who are in business for themselves but not by themselves.
  • Franchised businesses ARE local businesses: While many brands are recognized around the country and across the world, the local stores are owned by franchisees who live and work in their communities across the province.
  • Ensuring that Government doesn’t increase the burden on small business: Franchised small businesses need a longer runway to be able to accommodate government decisions. The CFA advocated for the Government to ensure that its decisions do not unfairly affect franchised small businesses.
  • The importance of the franchise business model: Franchising is the 12th largest industry in Canada, contributing over $120 billion to Canada’s GDP, employing almost 2 million Canadians.

Please join us next year! Through your participation, you can help us protect the franchise business model from legislative threats, and ensure it remains a profitable business model for you and your franchisees.
