Premium seafood meets convenience as consumer demand for elevated, ready-to-eat meals grows
Bento is redefining convenience with the launch of Canada’s first-ever grab-and-go scallop sushi lineup, marking a new phase of product innovation in the category. The new collection brings one of the seafood world’s most premium ingredients into an accessible, ready-to-eat format.
The launch taps into a growing consumer shift toward high protein, restaurant-inspired meals that fit into busy lifestyles. By introducing scallops, an ingredient traditionally reserved for fine dining, Bento is continuing to push the boundaries of what consumers expect from grab-and-go.

Long prized for their naturally sweet flavour and delicate texture, scallops have typically been limited to chef-driven menus and special occasions. Bento’s new lineup makes that experience available in everyday settings, without compromising on quality, freshness, or convenience. Each item features fully cooked scallops and is made fresh daily by skilled sushi chefs using responsibly sourced seafood. The result is a lineup that blends indulgence with accessibility, elevating familiar formats like rolls, onigiri, and poke bowls. The new lineup includes:
- Spicy Scallop Roll
Scallops in spicy mayo with avocado and cucumber, topped with teriyaki, spicy mayo, shichimi, and crispy onions. - Scallop Crunch Roll
Scallops in spicy mayo with avocado and cucumber, finished with spicy mayo and shichimi spice. - Spicy Scallop Onigiri (2 pack)
Scallops in spicy mayo and green onion wrapped in sushi rice and nori for a satisfying, handheld bite. - Scallop Poke Bowl
Sushi rice topped with scallops, edamame, sunomono, seaweed salad, avocado, crispy onions, bold sauces, and sesame seeds.
The scallop lineup is available starting today at retailers across Canada, including Loblaws, Longo’s, Metro, Real Canadian Superstore, Zehrs, Your Independent Grocer, Calgary Co-op, Sobey’s Atlantic and additional grocery partners nationwide, and will also be offered at our 17 retail locations across the country. This will be followed by a rollout to our foodservice and higher education locations for the new semester. Pricing will range from $11 to $16 to account for regional and SKU-specific variations.
