Canada’s Original Donair Brand Expands its Philanthropic Efforts

Canada’s original donair brand is expanding in philanthropic fashion! King of Donair, known by its fans as KOD, is the original creator of the donair that was first introduced in 1973 in Halifax, NS. Now the official food of Halifax, donairs have gained popularity and can usually be found close to many late night establishments. What has become more then simply a late night favourite, donairs have have evolved into a variety of flavour combinations throughout the country. To those living in eastern Canada and know it best, donairs are more then simply a flavourful, convenient option. To them, donairs are like hockey is to Canada, they know it well and are passionate about it.

Although the original location is still in operation on Quinpool Road in Halifax, King of Donair is actively adding new ones with two scheduled to open in Edmonton and Grande Prairie, Alberta. To celebrate the highly anticipated restaurants, the team at KOD organized a single afternoon pop up restaurant in downtown Edmonton. It was a great success with a lot of satisfied customers craving an authentic donair. This was no ordinary pop up as the team joined forces with the Bear Children’s Fund, a local charity, to donate all proceeds from the event. King of Donair managed to raise over $2,700 by selling the product for a donation of $5. King of Donair is extremely excited to have had the opportunity to support a local Edmonton charity and let the KOD fans know about the two upcoming locations. The brand is presently expanding throughout Canada with several other locations to be made public in the near future.
