Cora Franchises is proud to announce that its founder, Cora Tsouflidou, was presented with the Restaurants Canada Legacy Award of Excellence on September 16 in Toronto, at the One Table inaugural dinner, in recognition for building one of Canada’s most beloved breakfast chains and paving the way for women entrepreneurs in hospitality.
This prestigious acknowledgement highlights Cora Tsouflidou’s outstanding contribution to the Canadian food service industry and her role as a pioneer in the breakfast restaurant category.
More than just an entrepreneur, Cora Tsouflidou was the instigator of an entirely new ritual: going out to a restaurant to eat breakfast. Although this ritual is largely commonplace today, the concept was revolutionary at the time.
Since opening her very first restaurant in 1987, the founder, affectionately called “Madame Cora” by her team, built one of the country’s most beloved breakfast chains with passion and determination. Today, with more than 120 restaurants nationwide, Cora restaurants embody the authenticity, generosity and entrepreneurial spirit of its founder.
“It’s a tremendous honour to receive this award and to be recognized for making a significant contribution to Canada’s heritage in the restaurant industry. From the very first day, my goal has been simple: to serve delicious, comforting breakfasts made with fresh, high-quality ingredients. If I’ve inspired other entrepreneurs to pursue their dreams, then my mission is accomplished,” said Cora Tsouflidou.
Restaurants Canada’s Awards of Excellence recognize and celebrate outstanding individuals and organizations making meaningful contributions to Canada’s food service industry. Winners are selected by their peers for demonstrating leadership, culinary excellence, environmental stewardship and social impact.
