The Barrie location is owned and operated by new franchisees Anand and Deepika Mishra, who have over a decade of experience in the food and hospitality industry in the United Kingdom, India, and Canada.
“Bringing Fatburger to Barrie represents all the years of determination and passion,” says Anand Mishra. “As a husband-and-wife team, this is more than just a business — it’s our commitment to excellence and our belief in making exceptional food,” says Mishra.
The Mishra’s path to restaurant ownership exemplifies remarkable resilience. In 2020, just one year after moving to Canada, they suffered a devastating setback when they lost everything in a house fire — no belongings, no paperwork, no stability. But even in the face of that loss, they didn’t give up on their Canadian dream.
“That moment could have defined us, but instead, it refined us,” Mishra reflects. “We persevered through it all, and eventually secured our first home, and now we are launching this business,” added Mishra. Today, with two young children and one big dream, the Mishras are proud to open their very own restaurant and become a part of the vibrant Barrie community.
