Kimberly and Andrew both have a background in accounting, with Andrew having an additional entrepreneurial background in owning his own accounting firm. These two came across a business opportunity with Wild Birds Unlimited while helping a franchisee sell their location in South Surrey, British Colombia.
Wild Birds Unlimited is a retail franchise specializing in backyard bird feeding with a core mission in bringing people and nature together.
Although Andrew had had an imperfect experience with franchising in the past, they looked into the Wild Birds system and found that as a franchisor and a partner, the company was a good fit. Wild Birds Unlimited offered the Seversons a great opportunity for business ownership while cultivating a better work/life balance for themselves.
Since purchasing the existing location in South Surrey, they’ve seen numerous aspects of business ownership: handling unit relocation, navigating the store’s reaction to a changing leadership, learning more about the business’ offerings, and lots more. But each new challenge has been met head on, and they now find themselves entwined with a welcoming franchise system and community.
