Franchising is Canada’s 12th largest industry, employing nearly 2 million Canadians and projected to contribute almost $150 billion to the country’s GDP in 2026! But despite this sector’s economic power, everyday Canadians and even legislators aren’t always aware of how much franchised small businesses contribute to the economy as well as to their own local communities.

That’s why the Canadian Franchise Association (CFA) marks Franchise Awareness Month every June. Franchise Awareness Month promotes and celebrates the franchising industry by showcasing the success stories and philanthropic actions of local franchise owners.

The CFA also raises awareness about the impacts of franchising on local communities by sharing educational content with the public and engaging government representatives.

Celebrate Franchise Awareness Month with the CFA!

In 2025, the CFA highlighted member franchisees’ economic contributions and involvement with the community with social media blasts and weekly e-newsletters. This year, the CFA is happy to continue this tradition of sharing success stories through social media and online publications.

The CFA celebrates Franchise Awareness Month, “over the course of [June],” says Derek Robertson, Head of Government Relations and Strategic Partnerships at the CFA, by celebrating “the importance of local franchised small businesses through events like World Franchise Day and the annual Golf for Advocacy Tournament.”

Launched in 2025, World Franchise Day is an initiative to bring awareness of franchising to a global stage. The CFA led the creation of the day in partnership with the World Franchise Council, and last year’s inaugural event was celebrated in more than 65 countries, across six continents.

Join in the celebration of franchising’s impacts around the world, and help increase awareness of the franchise business model. Whether you’re a franchisee, franchisor, or supplier to the industry, you can help spread the word and amplify the message that franchisees are small business owners who contribute to their local communities! Check out the World Franchise Day playbook to learn how you can get involved.

Another way to raise awareness about franchising is to attend the CFA’s Golf for Advocacy Tournament! This event is much more than just a day on the course. It’s a great opportunity to connect with the CFA community and build relationships with fellow franchise professionals, all while supporting the CFA’s ongoing advocacy efforts to protect, promote, and advance franchising across Canada. Each registration strengthens the CFA’s ability to advocate for the franchise business model with government officials across the country.

Last year’s tournament sold out. Follow this link to register and secure your spot before it’s too late.

We know that golfing isn’t for everyone, which is why if you’re unable to join us for golf, you can register for our dinner only option here!

Be sure to follow the CFA on LinkedIn, Facebook, and Instagram and share your franchise success stories throughout the month of June.
