This season, the Government of Canada is introducing two valuable initiatives to provide financial relief:
GST/HST holiday tax break
To help Canadians save on essential holiday purchases, the temporary GST/HST holiday tax break will run from December 14, 2024, to February 15, 2025.
Do you have questions about which items qualify? To assist, the Canada Revenue Agency has published clear guidance and detailed lists of items that do or do not qualify.
Your customers will benefit from temporary relief on items such as:
- groceries, restaurant meals and snacks
- children’s clothing, footwear and toys
- printed books and newspapers
- holiday essentials like Christmas trees and decorations
For full details on eligible items and guidance on implementation, visit the GST/HST holiday tax break page.
Your customers are counting on you—stay informed and ensure accurate application of the GST/HST relief.
Canada Carbon Rebate for Small Businesses
Eligible Canadian-controlled private corporations will automatically receive the Canada Carbon Rebate for Small Businesses, a refundable tax credit returning a portion of federal fuel charge proceeds.
Most payments will be issued by year-end, giving businesses a timely financial boost with minimal effort—no application required!
This rebate will be issued annually, helping your business stay ahead.
