What is the status of your CFE Designation?
Just a reminder, candidates have three years from the time of enrollment to complete their designation. For example, if a candidate starts on July 1, 2020. They have until July 1, 2023 to achieve all their credit requirements. To be eligible to be included in the graduation class at the 2024 CFA National Convention, this candidate must submit their completed transcript to the CFA for approval by November 1, 2023.
NEW – Membership does matter. Candidates can earn 100 CFE Participation credits for being a CFA member. This starts at the date of enrollment into the CFE Program. Candidates can earn a maximum of 300 CFE Participation credits by graduation. Candidates must attend live/online events to earn their remaining participation credits.
NEW – Volunteering can be rewarding. Candidates can earn 100 CFE Participation credits for sitting on CFA Committees. Additionally, candidates can earn 50 CFE Participation credits for attending CFA committee meetings.

The Canadian Franchise Association’s (CFA) Fran-Guard course is based on the International Franchise Association’s (IFA) Fran-Guard program and is a mandatory component of the CFE Program.
The Fran-Guard course was created to safeguard your franchise by having your key employees fully trained on the franchise sales management and compliance process. It gives you the tools to manage your compliance program and avoid costly mistakes that can potentially wreck your franchise system.
CFA’s Fran-Guard program is for senior executives, franchise development professionals, lawyers and compliance managers. The program features both the legal and business aspects of compliance taught by legal experts. Compliance not only reduces risk but it can result in better company profits.

Manitoba raising minimum wage to $15 by October 2023
Earlier this spring, in recognition of exceptionally high inflation, the Manitoba government passed amendments to the Employment Standards Code to increase the minimum wage above the rate of inflation. READ MORE.

This week federal Small Business Minister, Mary Ng, announced that Women’s Enterprise Organizations of Canada (WEOC) will be providing loans of up to $50,000 to women entrepreneurs and business owners this fall through the Women Entrepreneurship Loan Fund. READ MORE.
Canada’s inflation rate cooled to 7.6% in July as gas prices dropped
The annual rate of inflation dipped to 7.6 per cent in July, Statistics Canada reported Tuesday, as lower gas prices took some of the heat off household budgets. READ MORE.

Macklem delivered the hawkish message in a National Post op-ed Tuesday, hours after Statistics Canada reported that consumer price gains slowed to a 7.6 per cent yearly pace in July on a steep drop in gasoline prices. READ MORE.
Canadian home sales fall for fifth month in a row, down 29% from last July: CREA
On a seasonally adjusted basis, the association said sales in July fell 5.3 per cent compared with June. The actual number of sales last month was 37,975, down 29 per cent compared with July last year. READ MORE.
