What is the status of your CFE Designation?
Just a reminder, candidates have three years from the time of enrollment to complete their designation. For example, if a candidate starts on July 1, 2020. They have until July 1, 2023 to achieve all their credit requirements. To be eligible to be included in the graduation class at the 2024 CFA National Convention, this candidate must submit their completed transcript to the CFA for approval by November 1, 2023.
NEW – Membership does matter. Candidates can earn 100 CFE Participation credits for being a CFA member. This starts at the date of enrollment into the CFE Program. Candidates can earn a maximum of 300 CFE Participation credits by graduation. Candidates must attend live/online events to earn their remaining participation credits.
NEW – Volunteering can be rewarding. Candidates can earn 100 CFE Participation credits for sitting on CFA Committees. Additionally, candidates can earn 50 CFE Participation credits for attending CFA committee meetings.For more information about the CFA’s CFE Program, please click here. The Canadian Franchise Association’s (CFA) Fran-Guard course is based on the International Franchise Association’s (IFA) Fran-Guard program and is a mandatory component of the CFE Program.
The Fran-Guard course was created to safeguard your franchise by having your key employees fully trained on the franchise sales management and compliance process. It gives you the tools to manage your compliance program and avoid costly mistakes that can potentially wreck your franchise system.
CFA’s Fran-Guard program is for senior executives, franchise development professionals, lawyers and compliance managers. The program features both the legal and business aspects of compliance taught by legal experts. Compliance not only reduces risk but it can result in better company profits.
CFA’s Fran-Guard course is presented in 5 modules which can easily be viewed in segments and at your own pace. Fran-Guard is a mandatory component toward your CFE designation and recognized for 300 CFE Education credits. For more information or to register for the course, please click here.

We source news items for these sections from media releases submitted by CFA members. Media releases can be about a CFA member company’s developments, promotions, charity work, recent accomplishments, or anything else you’d like to share!

CFA WIN! — Canadian Chamber adopts CFA resolution to create a program to help unlock RRSP savings to buy a new or existing business
At its recent Annual General Meeting, the Canadian Chamber of Commerce adopted a policy resolution, put forward by the CFA, that asks the federal government to create a program to allow RRSP withdrawals for the purchase of a new or existing business. READ MORE.
Competition Bureau to probe grocery pricing
The agency said in a press release Monday that it plans to investigate various issues in the grocery industry, “with the goal of recommending measures that governments can take to help improve competition in the sector.” READ MORE.
Bank of Canada hikes key interest rate half a point to 3.75%
The Bank of Canada unexpectedly slowed its pace of interest-rate hikes as the nation’s economy flirts with recession, although sustained inflation meant it still expects to raise borrowing costs again. READ MORE.
Bank of Canada trims inflation, GDP outlook
The Bank of Canada has lowered its outlook on Canadian inflation and economic growth over the course of the next two years as higher interest rates and weaker demand are expected to ease cost pressures. READ MORE.
