Growing together
Big T's BBQ and Smokehouse
Big T’s BBQ & Smokehouse is a southern-inspired, award- winning, family owned and operated BBQ restaurant. Our rubs and sauces are paired with traditional BBQ meats, then slow cooked and grilled to perfection. Our meat is purchased locally, and our food is smoked and prepared on site. We offer a variety of specialty items ranging from fried pickles, to fall off the bone ribs , and our famous Platters.
In 2014 Leslie Gardner and Jean Charbonneau bought Big D’s BBQ, a walk-up, fast-casual restaurant at the Calgary Farmers Market and shortly afterwards bought Big T’s BBQ & Smokehouse, an 80-seat full serve restaurant across from McMahon Stadium in NW Calgary. Combining forces, they changed the name of Big D’s BBQ to Big T’s BBQ and renovated the NW location. In 2015 they expanded again by purchasing Woody’s BBQ , an 85-seat full serve restaurant on Deer Ridge Drive in SE Calgary. This restaurant was also renovated and reopened as the third Big T’s location in 2016. During this time Andrew Spears joined the team , taking ownership of the Calgary Farmers Market location. Jean left the restaurant business in 2018 and Leslie took over as the sole owner and Boss Lady.
In 2020 Leslie and Andrew joined forces to open a fast-casual restaurant in Airdrie. This Franchise model is a smaller footprint with the focus on quick service, casual dining and take out.
They are in currently working on opening Big T’s in the communities of Mahogany , Creekside and West Hills in Calgary and expanding into Red Deer and Edmonton next year .
