The Canadian breakfast restaurant chain opens its newest franchise in Vernon
Sainte-Thérèse, August 5, 2019 – Cora Breakfast and Lunch, Canada’s breakfast leader, is proud to announce the opening of a new Cora restaurant in Vernon. The restaurant, located at 5601 Anderson Way, will welcome its first guests on Monday, August 12, 2019.
The public is invited to join dignitaries and local franchisee owners for the official grand opening at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, August 20, 2019. Cora Breakfast and Lunch management will hold a true Cora-Style celebration: the Egg-Cracking Ceremony, during which the first symbolic omelette in the restaurant will be made.
The new location is part of a nationwide expansion of the Cora network, making it the first restaurant in Vernon, the third in the Okanagan, and the eleventh in British Columbia, for the largest sit-down breakfast chain in Canada.
Cora Breakfast and Lunch originated in 1987 when Cora Tsouflidou, a divorced mother of three with no income, bought a small abandoned diner in Saint-Laurent (Montreal, Quebec). The menu at Chez Cora focused solely on breakfast dishes: fresh fruit, eggs, cheese, omelettes, crêpes and French toast. The restaurant quickly became the talk of the town, often with lineups at the door. The year 1994 marked a turning point when she began franchising as a way to grow the Cora network. The concept rapidly expanded and, today, there are over 130 Cora Breakfast and Lunch restaurants coast to coast in Canada.
The franchised chain is famous for its breakfasts, boasting generous servings of fresh fruit artfully prepared by specially trained on-site “fruiters.” Inspired by her guests’ requests and her children’s suggestions, Madame Cora has created more than 100 menu ideas, most of which still bear the names of the customers or family members who inspired her.
