Lice Squad.com opened its first Superhero Kids Hair with Care salon in Barrie, Ontario last year and have recently expanded to Durham region with a second unit. The private salon provides the community with a unique and caring experience for kids, specializing in meeting the hair care needs of children and families living with autism and special needs, and providing first hair cuts and cuts for children of all ages. Especially those who have a challenging time getting hair cuts.
Founder Dawn Mucci explains, “I saw a need in the community for a private salon and a synergy between Lice Squad.com which provides head lice care services. I decided to expand and become all things kids’ hair care by offering safe, effective and natural products and services that addresses both head lice and hair care in two separate private retail salon settings, curating a fun, inclusive, and welcoming space with no distractions that addresses a need not being met by traditional hair salons.”
The salon has been well received and is usually booked weeks in advance. Mucci hopes to expand the concept into even more communities through licensing. “I love to create opportunity for others and to help my community. Barbers and stylist who want to make a difference and start a viable and rewarding business would be ideal for this national opportunity. Especially those who are passionate about working with children and families,” says Mucci.
