Canadian coffee brand aims to raise $50,000—enough to feed one school for a year
Second Cup Café, Canada’s premier specialty coffee retailer, invites Canadians to join it in a campaign that seeks to raise $50,000 for Breakfast Club of Canada so that it can provide breakfast to the children of one school for an entire year.
Starting today and until May 31, Second Cup baristas will invite guests to get involved by making a $1 or $2 donation or rounding up their bill at participating cafés across the country.
“No child should go to school hungry,” says Cendrine Lavigne, marketing director of Second Cup. “This campaign is about more than just raising funds—it’s about building a community that comes together to help nurture the potential of the next generation.”
This is the second part of a two-part campaign. Second Cup held an initial campaign in the fall that raised more than $23,000 for the program. Funds raised go directly to Breakfast Club of Canada, which supports over 3,800 breakfast programs nationwide. These programs ensure that children start their day with the nourishment they need to focus, learn, and thrive in the classroom.
“We believe that helping children get the energy they need to learn is a collective responsibility, and we are truly grateful for the relationship we have built with Second Cup, who share our commitment to putting children first,” highlights Tommy Kulczyk, president and chief executive officer at Breakfast Club of Canada. “Breakfast Club of Canada is thankful for Second Cup’s support and the dedication of its employees in reaching more children across Canada.”
The support of Second Cup and its community will help sustain over 3,800 existing breakfast programs and could also help support new schools to reach even more children.
