About the CFA

The Canadian Franchise Association (CFA) is a national, non-profit association. We represent a community of more than 700 corporate members, representing over 40,000 franchise business owners.

Membership in the CFA is corporate, meaning that once a franchise system becomes a member, everyone in that system is a member.

Growing Together

The mission of the CFA is to help everyday Canadians realize the dream of building their own business through franchising. In promoting this mission, the CFA recognizes ‘Growing Together’ as the core principle at the heart of franchising. After all, franchising is a symbiotic relationship for shared success; it’s all about people coming together and working in partnership toward a common goal.

This is also the goal of the CFA’s work. Operating on the belief that franchisors and franchisees are much stronger together than they are as individuals, the CFA works with members to help their franchise community grow.

The CFA works in four main areas:

  • Community: We help build and foster a community that works together so we can all succeed. Our community includes franchisors, franchisees, suppliers, and prospective franchisees. Through a variety of programs, we build connections between people and between companies to create partnerships and collaborations.
  • Education: We deliver learning opportunities (including events, articles, conferences, webinars, roundtables, and more) that make franchisors and franchisees stronger. We also have an annual convention that brings together more than 500 franchisors and franchisees to share ideas and learn new things so we can all grow our businesses. We are also the exclusive Canadian partner of the International Franchise Association (IFA), licenced to provide the Certified Franchise Executive (CFE) certification program in Canada.
  • Advocacy and Government Relations: We work with federal, provincial, and municipal governments across Canada on the issues that are most important for our members. Being a member of the CFA gives our members a seat at the table with government to advocate for what is best for the franchising community. It also allows them to focus on running their businesses with the knowledge that we are working on their behalf.
  • Lead Generation: We help our members connect with prospective franchisees looking to go into business through franchising, through trade shows and publications offered to the general public, and our franchise listing site, LookforaFranchise.ca.
