Canadian Franchise Association Welcomed to the Legislative Assembly of Ontario for Franchise Awareness Day

Hon. Victor Fedeli, Minister of Economic Development, Job Creation and Trade, welcomed the CFA to the Legislative Assembly of Ontario during the question period on May 31st. CFA representatives met with numerous MPPs at Queen’s Park yesterday to advocate for the protection of the Canadian franchise industry.

There needs to be clarity in employment law on this issue so franchisors can protect the intellectual property of their brand while at the same time protecting the position of franchisees as independent business owners. We are asking provincial governments to address this by adopting a four-factor test that will determine if a joint employer relationship exists or not…
